Starting of engines

For the starting process of large diesel engines on ships, among other things, valves are needed that reliably start the engines. One of our valves is often used in this sensitive area of marine propulsion. This switches the starting air from compressed air cylinders into the starting system of the engine and thus initiates the starting process. The GSR valve has customer-specific connections and is designed for a pressure range of 7 to 40 bar.

For the demanding applications in shipbuilding, the valve is equipped with additional options. This includes a red-anodized manual operation for the quick locating and switching off the valve. As a protection against external influences, the manual actuation is additionally provided with a metal bracket. Other options include a device socket with a light-emitting diode and a safety shut-off valve.

The valve was designed from the ground up in such a way that the clogging of the control bore hole is prevented, even under unfavourable conditions. The control bore hole is very large, and a filter is installed in the valve. This prevents dirt from entering the valve and clogging the bore there. In addition to various additional options, this valve has important approvals from the following classification societies:

  • R INA
  • ABS
  • GL
  • D N V
  • B V
  • L R
  • RMRS
